Femi Adebayo (born on December 31, 1972, in Lagos, Nigeria) is a Nigerian lawyer, film actor, director, producer and Special Adviser to the Governor of Kwara State on Arts, Culture and Tourism. He is the son of the veteran actor, Adebayo Salami.

Early life, family, and background

Femi is an indigene of Ilorin, Kwara state, born and raised in Lagos state where he had both his primary and secondary education. He was born into a polygamous family of 12 children. Some of known siblings include; Tope Adebayo, Sodiq Adebayo, Kemi Adebayo, Lai Adebayo and Omolara Adebayo.

Education

Femi attended the University of Ilorin where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Law, and earned a master's degree in Law at the University of Ibadan.

Career

Femi began acting in 1985, the same year he featured in his father's first movie titled Ogun Ajaye. He has starred in several Nigerian films, winning four awards as Best Yoruba actor at the 17th African Film Awards popularly known as Afro Hollywood awards at the Stratford Town Hall in London. He also won an award in the same category for the Best of Nollywood Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria Awards in 2012.

After his first movie, he got several invitations from top Nigerian movie producers who gave him other roles before he become one of the most sought after Nigerian actor.

Femi has featured in over 200 Nigerian movies. Femi is the MD/CEO of J-15 media network Nigeria. He is also a special adviser to the governor of Kwara state on Arts, Culture and Tourism.

Personal life

Adebayo was married to Khadijat. They had 3 kids together. In 2011, Khadijat filed for divorce in a local court. The actor and his wife were separated for a couple of years prior to the divorce.

A close source to the family revealed that Khadijat left her husband because she wasn’t comfortable with his career as an actor. The actor also confirmed this as he revealed in an interview that his wife wasn’t happy with his profession as an actor and didn’t give him the much needed support.

It was recalled that Adebayo met his wife at the University of Ilorin in 1998. At that time she was in her first year studying Computer science while he was in his third year studying law. The couple dated for 6 years before getting married in 2004.

In October 2016, Adebayo remarried. He got married to Omotayo Memunat Sanusi. Prior to his second marriage, there were rumours that he was dating popular actress, Funke Akindele also known as Jenifa. Omotayo had never being married until meeting Femi Adebayo. She had worked as an air hostess before she started her own business. Currently, she own the café, ‘Iyan Aladuke’ located on Montgomery road in Yaba, Lagos.

The wedding between Femi Adebayo and Omotayo took place in Ilorin, Adebayo’s hometown. The event was well attended by celebrities in Nollywood although the actor revealed the wedding plans were low key because he wanted to protect his new wife.

in December 2018, Femi and his wife, Omotayo welcomed their first child.
