1 corinthians 13
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not loved, I am nothing.
— Anonymous
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not loved, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, to remove mountains, but have not loved, I am nothing. And if I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not loved, it profited me nothing.

Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.
